Brent's work has been characterized as impressionist and abstract but mostly all over the place. Wanting never to be locked into a particular genre or style he strives to break free of conformity. Having grown up in the graphic arts industry of the greater Los Angeles area he fell under the influence of some of the most creative and detail minded people he would ever meet. By the time he arrived at his first high school art class he had already developed a sense for structure and color that forced many classmates and faculty to notice. A few years and a few art classes later, many taken at community colleges all over the San Gabriel Valley he settled into a job at a printing company he's parents worked. Always drawing, painting, sculpting, crafting he never gave up on his dream of becoming a professional artist. Now at 45 he is more focused on achieving his dream and has devoted all of his time and energies to art and the pursuit of creative expression. Preferring to work with acrylics and canvas he enjoys the challenges large, mural like canvases present. Fearless with color, insane with the notion that conventions in design are meant to be shattered he spends weeks conceptualizing, sketching, plotting until in his mind the stage is set and all that is left to do is paint. Whatever the subject or theme one constant remains, make the eye stop and then move in spite of itself. Brent's paintings have seen a few exhibits. Most recently you can see his work at the "Art Of Life Exhibit" in Fresno. His paintings have also appeared in "The November Nudes" at the Chris Sorensen's Studios and the Tower Mosaic both in Fresno California. |
